Most motorcycle enthusiasts haven’t even heard of motorcycle camping. This rare, but enjoyable, activity is an absolute most-do if you own a motorcycle. However, there are a number of things you should know before you try motorcycle camping. Most importantly, you should know that motorcycle camping isn’t as easy as it might seem.
Why? There are a number of campgrounds that will not accept motorcycles at all, for starters. This means that your choice of camp sites will be narrowly limited to those who are willing to accept bikers. Another challenge is finding out how to store all of your gear on a single motorcycle. Often, the solution to this is simply to pack light. This might mean packing a small, light tent and almost no accessories at all. It may also mean that you could have to purchase supplies at nearby stories and ferry them back and forth to the campsite as you setup. This could be a hassle, but it ultimately may be worth it.

What to Bring on your Motorcycle Camping Trip
The key in packing for motorcycle camping is to think lightweight and compact. This often includes gear that is marketed for backpacking expeditions, since the same standards must apply. For a sleeping unit, you can shop for a motorcycle camping trailer, which will be easy to tow behind your bike and will pop up into a tent that will be large enough for a comfortable night’s sleep. Another option is to bring along a small tent that will fit compactly on your bike when not in use. There are also plenty of options in motorcycle luggage that will allow you to bring a few of the comforts of home along on your motorcycle camping trip. Apparel needs to be packed with warmth in mind, since you won’t have the luxury of heading to your heated car if the cold begins to chill you through. A portable heater is another good option, if you can find a way to bring it along on your bike. Keep in mind that supplies for cooking and washing will also need to be lightweight and small enough to pack, so hunt for items that will fold up for easy storage.
