You might think that antique or vintage might be a nice word to toss in front of, say, a particular type of clothing or a piece of pottery, but how about a trailer? Do you really want to purchase a trailer with the label “vintage”? That is—do you really want to purchase something mechanical that is also old? Will it really be as comfortable as a modern trailer? Or will it be small, cramped, and hopelessly outmoded by newer models?

Contrary to what most would think, these old trailer models can actually be quite nice. Not only are they stylish, but they are also comfortable. And, yes, you can find models that are retrofitted to include all of the high tech equipment you have come to integrate into your daily life.

Why Use a Vintage Trailer, Rather than a Modern Trailer? Why Not?

There are always some advantages and disadvantages about buying or renting vintage camping trailers. Depending on your taste and preferences, you can actually have a lot of fun living in vintage trailers for a few days or even weeks. One of the advantages of living in vintage trailer is that you have opportunity of reacquainting yourself with the past. Note that vintage items have some historic value attached to them. If you are one of those ultra modern people who have not really been into something old, this is now the chance for you to really experience how it is to be inside a camper that has seen so many seasons. Besides, a vintage trailer will always serve as a picturesque background in your camping trip photos. You can always brag to your friends that you live in this fabulous vintage camping trailer.

One of the biggest disadvantages of purchasing a “vintage” trailer is that they can be quite pricey. Most vintage things are quite expensive because they represent a piece of history. When you buy some old things like vintage cars, clothes and others, you are actually buying a piece of history. Depending on the history attached to the vintage item, its price could easily soar to several thousands of dollars. In fact, rare vintage objects are considered as so value that some collectors are willing to pay millions of dollars for them. If you do not have the money to spare, you better stay away from vintage camping trailers.
